Don’t look at internet marketing as a get rich quick scheme, the moment you think you will strike it rich in a week you sabotage your success before you even begin. Hone your writing skills, one of the fastest ways of becoming an accomplished and respected internet marketer is by writing valuable, entertaining content which solves problems or provides useful information. Find a reliable source of up to date information, nothing beats having a personal mentor you can fall back on when you get stuck. But before I let the cat out of the bag let me just say that market and keyword research should not only be your first port of call when considering entering a new niche. But market and keyword research should form the foundation of all of your following work.
If you fail to perform proper market and keyword research, you could sabotage your campaign before it even get’s off the ground!
This will ultimately waste your time and money as you could find yourself pursuing a market that is either not viable or far too competitive already having too many large and established players.
Take my word for it, that no matter how boring you find it pays in spades to do thorough market and keyword research!

Just recently I was surfing the net researching what new money making opportunities may have poked their head up. 'It’s always wise to watch what your competitors are doing so they don’t get away from you'.
While I was doing this I come across a youtube clip of a marketer ‘absolutely dominating’ a keyword phrase. The problem was this keyword phrase; was so long-tail and obscure my grandmother could out rank this guy on google.
I think the point this person was trying to make was that he ‘absolutely dominated’ a whole page of google for his chosen keyword phrase, therefore he must be ‘damn good’. The only thing he doesn’t say in his video is that his chosen keyword phrase is so obscure and long tail that all of his sites barely get more than two to five visits a day.
Anyway I felt so strongly about this deception that I made a video to show you how to properly gauge keyword profitability instead of just focusing on page ranking, which really is only a small portion of the BIG picture.

As many backlinks as possible from high authority sites as possible,
High quality; keyword rich content on your site which is updated often with keywords ‘emphasised’ in bold, italics or made into links.
A favourable domain name (keyword)

SOE optimized page code (HTML), meta tags, locality tags, page descriptors
Submit page and sitemap to google
Submit your site to social bookmarking sites,
Write high quality articles for article sites
Submit press releases and Squidoo pages
Submit site to search engine friendly directories
Depending on your targeted niche or topic you could need 70 to 150 quality backlinks to get on the first page of a Google search, also if you have a blog its best if you concentrate each post on single keyword. Use social bookmarking sites to create backlinks to your sites, but be selective, the best strategy is to initially submit to the top 4 or 5 bookmarking sites at first, more is not necessary better.
The aim of the game is a good mix of high quality backlinks adding numbers over time! If you create a large number of backlinks at one location the Google crawlers will get suspicious and you run the very real risk of being the victim of a Google slap which means Google will dump your page to the bottom of the pile, it pays to be patient!

Once in a while a piece of software comes along that re-invents the internet landscape. You probably haven’t heard of ‘Flock’, but I guarantee you will be. Basically Flock is a new revolutionary browser that has it all, yes even the kitchen sink. If you are just a casual net surfer then this wonderful new browser will hardly blow wind up your skirt, but for the many internet freaks out there that the internet is there bread and butter, Flock will undoubtedly be the saviour of their world.
Flock was built on the foundations of Firefox, and once its installed there is no hassle at all migrating all your browser setting, passwords and favourites to Flock, the process is done seamlessly and although Flock seems a lot like Firefox it is all so much more powerful.
All your social sites fully integrate into flock, facebook, twitter, you name it. Flock has a very customizable My World tab featuring your favourite feeds, friend activity, favourite media, and favourite sites. You can totally manage facebook and even individually interact with face book friends with a very nifty People Sidebar. There’s also a neat Media Bar giving fast access to your favourite media streams complete with a video stream search facility for the major video stream sites such as Flickr and Youtube, there’s a RSS Feed Side Bar and let me not forget a time saving and Account and Services side bar. If you’re into blogging you can publish and update your Wordpress and Blogger blogs with the browsers blog editor.
You can easily ‘borrow’ web content and share it or drag and drop it onto your on sites all within the browser, to be honest I could keep going and going and going.
Although the best thing I love about this new browser is the total lack of hang-ups, it works seamlessly and is very responsive and despite the complete thrashing I gave it while opening twenty six tabs it never skipped a beat, not even once.
All in all I think Flock has something for everyone, net freaks around the world will love it as well as hard core internet marketers. Flock just seems to force you to get more done in a lot less time; it’s no doubt going to have the vast internet community ‘flocking’ to it.

Facebook has just recently made some pretty big changes of late, the social networking website has somewhat split its customers profile into two sections, public and private or rather social and commercial.

For anyone who wishes to give up their day job, it’s an appealing ambition to start a few blogs, watch them take off and quit the stress of the office life to sit in the comfort of your own home and live off of the advertising revenue.
Though despite the apparent success stories written mostly about events in our personal lives primarily for friends and family, the vast blogs on the internet today don’t really see great floods of traffic let alone see any fortunes made. Despite this, there are a select few people out there that do make a healthy income from blogging and have realized the recipe for success.

Blogging is hardly a get rich scheme as many people expect their very first Blog to instantly become a smash hit. Even for experienced writers, a feel needs to be developed on what works on the web and what doesn’t and most people will give up due to a lack of results before they develop such a ‘feel’. Probably the best way to shorten your apprenticeship in blog writing is to read other peoples blogs, both good and bad. Create a strong momentum in this initial period and you have a much greater chance of seeing your blog make enough money to make payments on a new car.
Don’t rely purely on adsense, while placing adsense ads on your blog is probably the quickest and easiest way to create revenue from your blog. The most successful bloggers use a combination of pay per click advertising and affiliates. Choosing one revenue type over the other will limit your income from your blog.
Multi stream you income, while gaining revenue from both adsense and affiliate commissions, sometimes you blog posts are worthy enough to be morphed into articles and press releases which you can be paid for. Some bloggers have even secured freelance writing contracts from their blog posts.
Enjoy what you do, you will find if you treat blogging like a job your passion just won’t be in it and this will feed back into your posts. There are literally dozens of tips for placing adsense advertisements on your webpage or blog with view of getting the maximum click through rates for your Ad’s. For this post I will just give you the main tips for getting maximum clicks from your Ad’s.
The first thing is ‘Placement’, you wan’t your adsense ad’s to be placed as close as possible to the main content of your page as possible. The trick is to make the viewer feel the advertisements are not advertisements at all but are part of the main content of your page.
The best place would be at the top left area of your page as this is where we naturally look to start reading. Also along the vertical on the right hand side as this area is where our hand seems to spend most of it time while scanning a webpage. Another trick to making adsense adverts look like the content on your page is to change the colour scheme to match your websites colour scheme.
Make the background of your adsesne ads the same as the background of your page as well as the border. Also make the text of your ads the same colour and font as the text of your content.
People have become immune to web adverts and tend to ignore them, but if you make your adverts look more like your content your page viewer will actaully give just as much attention to the adverts than the content and you will find your click through rate will show a marked increase.
Google has recently issued a strong warning on those using thin affiliate websites, this is very important for everyone in affiliate marketing; especially those who wish to cut corners and seek to get an affiliate site up in minutes by using thin affiliate sites.
Thin Affiliate sites are basically sites that purely act as doorway pages to the merchant site without offering any real value or quality content; obviously they serve little purpose other than to direct the customer to the merchant site. This practise of using ‘thin affiliates’ goes hand in hand with MLM or Multi Level Marketing.
Personally I have never been a big fan of Multi Level Marketing; to me it just seems too much like a Ponzi or pyramid scheme and now Google seems to agree.
Allan Gardyne outlines the effects in his article: Google says: “We differentiate between affiliates that produce extra service, value, or content, and those that simply are duplicates of other sites, set up to boost traffic to other sites and earn a commission for it. The former ones are not offensive and should be rated on the merits to the query. The latter ones are Offensive…
“Thin affiliate doorways are sites that usher people to a number of Affiliate programs, earning a commission for doing so, while providing little or no value-added content or service to the user. A site certainly has the right to try to earn income; we’re attempting to identify sites that do nothing but act as a commission-earning middleman.”
Google also says: “Do not call a page affiliate spam when an affiliation is only incidental to the message and purpose of a website. To determine whether participation in affiliate programs is central or incidental to the site’s existence, ask yourself this question: Would this site remain a coherent whole if the pages leading to the affiliate (merchant) were taken away?”
That probably counts out most affiliate sites.
Ironically the quotes in the article were from a document Google uses to train human agents to evaluate its search engine for accuracy.
The moral of this whole story is this, there is no such thing as a ‘free lunch’. For everyone that has thrown out there dozens of thin affiliate sites that provide no viewer value, they can expect the mother of all slaps by Google.
